#Robot Empire: Planet of Steel by Kevin Partner

Planet of Steel (Robot Empire)Planet of Steel by Kevin Partner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Robot Empire is finally revealed in this book, nothing is as it first appears our heros are thrust into a position whereby they must save the robot race from extinction by a mysterious death star.

Kevin has gotten better with practice but there are still some very obvious options that they did not explore. Like if the ‘Intruder’ uses star gates to travel, then why not simply destroy the star gates when it is within a system thus trapping it.

Another thing is that in battle of dawn the robots had stunned and secured a large group of marines and destroyed their mothership, but there is no mention of what they did to the survivors. The only mention of marines is dead ones on the surface that died in the initial assault.

It would be out of character for the crew to slaughter them while helpless, or for the officers to allow them to suffocate to death, but since the author didn’t tie that loose end we are left wondering.

Otherwise good book with engaging plot, immersive writing and deeply flawed characters with enough tension to keep you flipping pages. Great cliffhanger at the end also.
